Direction and Production of Film, Video and Television

Program Presentation

We live in a society characterized by the exponential growth of the service sector. Many of these are directly related to the communication industry: the areas that are in great demand are film, video and television.

These days, there is a need for people who are trained for public and private, national and regional television; in the development of local and cable television; in the use of digital platforms that facilitate communication processes within institutions, in teaching, publicity, industry and other scenarios.

Therefore, with this specialization, we seek to train professionals within the context of the film industry, video and television production, and the applications of audiovisual multimedia in the creation of new multimedia products for entertainment.

Who is the programme for?

The proposed methodology and the clear and diverse curriculum makes the Direction & Production of Film, Video and Television program designed for:

  • Non-university individuals who wish to specialize in the audiovisual area.
  • Professionals of the audiovisual industry, communication and advertising, who wish to consolidate their knowledge to apply them in their work environment.
  • Certified or Associate Degree Graduates who wish to specialize in audiovisual topics in order to improve their job expectations.

Diploma

Successful completion of the Program will enable you to be awarded the degree in Specialization in DIRECTION AND PRODUCTION OF FILM, VIDEO AND TELEVISION.

After successfully completing the Program, the student will receive the degree as awarded by the University where they have enrolled.

Program Structure

The estimated duration of the Direction and Production of Film, Video, and Television program is of 540 hours (54 credits)1.

Regarding the distribution of time, it is established that:

  • Being a distance program and not subject to classes, a concrete start date is not set, so students may enroll at any time, provided there are spaces available.
  • The maximum time available for the program is one year. In this time period, the student must have submitted all assignments and the Final Project.

Objectives

General Objective:

  • The curriculum aims to equip students with skills for design, management and production control, as well as planning and technical processes and expressive image and sound operation, for film, video and television production.

  • To provide knowledge for students to learn to evaluate the implementation of an audiovisual project for Film, Video, or TV.
  • To motivate students to think critically about the production of audiovisual works, to obtain the best possible product and optimizing available resources.
  • To identify the key elements to manage, organize and plan audiovisual projects.
  • To prepare students to participate in the different phases of the development of audiovisual products for film, video, or television.

Study Plan

The Program of Direction and Production of Film, Video and Television consists of eleven subjects, an appendix and a Final Project.

  • 1ST PART: SUBJECTS (430 HOURS)

The first part provides the theoretical, conceptual and historical foundations involved in audiovisual production and, the second, deals with the organizational, social and technological implementation.

The goal is for students to gain an overview of the audiovisual field, through various related multidisciplinary topics.

These subjects, despite being independent, are structured according to a consistent sequence from simple concepts to increasingly complex ones. Each subject is divided into basic thematic units or chapters, the contents of which include printed material to be studied to answer satisfactorily the tests.

  • 2ND PART: FINAL PROJECT (110 HOURS)

The last phase of the program is devoted to the development of the Final Project.

The objective is to present a document containing the full development of a proposal from the initial idea to its transfer to audiovisual media. As the summary of the program, the project should address the different fields studied.
