Traditional nutritional therapy has always led to unique responses to the same treatment. This is why personalized nutrition and the use of alternative therapies have increased in importance.

The Personalized Nutrition and Other Food Therapies Program provides a comprehensive and balanced approach in the instruction of the proper practice of metabolic processes and the effect they have on nutrients and food. It is aimed at all professionals within the Health Sciences and others interested in the subject who have related degrees.

The Personalized Nutrition and Other Food Therapies Program seeks to update and expand knowledge in the area of nutrition and alternative therapies.

Who is the programme for?

The proposed training methodology along with a clear and ample curriculum in the Specialization in Personalized Nutrition and Other Food Therapies program is designed for:

  • University graduates in the Health Sciences who wish to update and/or broaden their knowledge in Nutrition and Health.
  • Other professionals with knowledge and experience in the field of Health Sciences who are interested in this area.

Diploma

Successful completion of the Program will enable you to be awarded the degree in Specialization in Personalized Nutrition and Other Food Therapies.

After successfully completing the Program, the student will receive the degree as awarded by the University where they have enrolled.

Program Structure

The credit structure of the Personalized Nutrition and Other Food Therapies program is shown in the following table. It should be noted that the duration is merely indicative, as the methodology followed integrates the knowledge and skills to be acquired in each part through integrative exercises of knowledge acquisition and internalization of project practices:

a. The equivalence in credits may vary according to the university where he/she has enrolled. One (1) ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credit is equivalent to 10 + 15 hours. If the student is enrolled in a university that does not belong to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), the relation between credits - hours may vary.

General objectives

  • To provide advanced and up-to-date training in the most relevant topics related to the field of nutrition and the use of alternative therapies.

Specific objectives

  • To study the principles relating to biotechnology, genomics and proteomics associated with food and nutrition to acquire the necessary knowledge in order to research these issues.
  • To understand interactions between genes and nutrients, the influence of specific genes on the utilization of dietary nutrients and their implication in certain pathophysiological processes.
  • To provide advanced knowledge about the molecular mechanisms leading to inflammation in the body and its relation to nutrition.
  • To study the composition and characteristics of functional and transgenic foods and their relationship to health.
  • To fully understand the area of alternative therapies related to nutrition.
  • To understand the application of orthomolecular therapy.
  • To gain knowledge of anti-aging therapy and coping with free radicals.

The Iberoamerican University Foundation (FUNIBER) allocates periodically an extraordinary economic item for FUNIBER Training Scholarships.

Once the documentation is received, the Evaluation Committee will determine your application's eligibility for the FUNIBER Training Scholarship.
