NUTRITION FOR EDUCATORS

NUTRICIÓN PARA EDUCADORES

The Nutrition for Educators book emerges from the world of education in the traditional sense, constituting an educational tool for those professionals dedicated to nutrition and who – at a time when food, health and culture are a necessity for quality of life - must transmit and foment appropriate attitudes toward health and nutrition.

Professor Mataix’s book allows you to acquire good basic training in nutrition as well as a base for successful transmission of knowledge to the general public and more specifically to children.

NUTRICIÓN EN EL DEPORTE. AYUDAS ERGOGÉNICAS Y DOPAJE

This text seeks to provide clear and concise information on current principles as applied to sports nutrition, as well as those areas that require profound yet cautious development of guidelines and nutritional recommendations.

The authors of the book felt that it was imperative to choose text that contained information with a strong scientific base in order to avoid possible errors when making nutritional recommendations. Because there is ample evidence that proper nutrition may help to improve sports performance, prevent injuries, recover after exercise, achieve proper body weight, improve living habits and, above all, maintain a general state of good health.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND HEALTH

ACTIVIDAD FÍSICA Y SALUD

Physical inactivity is one of the most pressing problems related to health in developed countries. As a side effect of technological advances, the lack of physical activity affects not only the wealthy, but also extends to a large part of the general population. Today´s increased awareness of the importance of physical activity in order to achieve a state of optimum health has created a great demand for specialized information in this area on the part of physical activity professionals. This book provides a comprehensive approach, in that it is balanced and advanced in the knowledge of the benefits of exercise, both from a biological and a psychosocial point of view, for the prescription of physical exercise and the design of health-oriented exercise programs.

TABLE OF FOOD COMPOSITION

TABLA DE COMPOSICIÓN DE ALIMENTOS

The TCAM software is the computerized version of the Table of Food Composition from Dr. José Mataix Verdú. However, this software offers multiple extra functions apart from the composition of more than 1,000 foods and 36 nutritional data included in the tables. Amongst them we would highlight the possibility of consulting the rations of habitual consumption of all food-types, developing lists of food by its content in a certain nutrient, performing complex searches of foods through filters that allow you to use multiple criteria while doing searches, comparing the composition of several foods, and comparing their nutritional inputs with recommended nutrient intakes for different populations and ages.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND HEALTH IN EUROPE

ACTIVIDAD FÍSICA Y SALUD EN EUROPA

Physical activity is a key means to improve the physical and mental health of the population. It reduces the risk of many non-transmittable diseases and is beneficial to society, thanks to its social interaction and community involvement. Unfortunately more than half of the WHO European region is not active enough to meet health recommendations, and there is a trend toward even less activity.

One way to respond to this potentially important challenge is with the encouragement of physical activity for the improvement of health. The concept emphasizes the importance of physical activity as part of everyday life, and not as an extra option added to the end of a busy day.
